As a mother and a writer, I’ve always felt that the stories we hear as children are the ones that stay in our hearts forever. There is something so special about the legends of ancient India the colors, the lessons of kindness, and the sheer wonder of it all. That is exactly why I created The Little Butter Thief.
I wanted to find a way to share the playful spirit of Baby Krishna with the next generation in a way that feels gentle and accessible. Our heritage is so rich, but sometimes it can feel overwhelming for a toddler. My goal was to strip away the complexity and focus on the pure joy: a little boy, his love for butter, and the beautiful world of Vrindavan.
More Than Just a Story
When I sat down to write this, I didn’t just want a book that sat on a shelf. I wanted a book that parents and children could cuddle up with. The soft watercolor illustrations are designed to feel like a dream, pulling little readers into a world where animals are friends and every page holds a new discovery.
For families living away from India, or even those right at home, keeping our culture alive is so important. The Little Butter Thief is my way of building that bridge. It’s about more than just a deity; it’s about heritage, values, and the simple magic of childhood.
